As I do on the first Thursday of each month, I enjoy looking back over my archived photos, taken three years previously in September, 2020, remembering how things were then in Florida as contrasted with events this year at our new home in Connecticut. As usual, I searched for images which reflected favorite memes: critters of all kinds (especially birds), skies and clouds, reflections, flowers and scenes which speak for themselves.
Southbound songbird migration was in full swing, as evidenced by the 552 images I processed that month. Prominent among the migrant warbler species were these and many more...
Cape May Warbler:

Adding color to the scene were a Summer Tanager, just passing by...
...and a resident male Northern Cardinal:
An iridescent Boat-tailed Grackle reflected tiny dots of all the colors in a rainbow:
White-winged Dove:
Eastern Screech Owl:
Northern Flicker exhibited its golden underwing while preening:
A Robber Fly had captured and was devouring a White Peacock butterfly:
Monarch butterflies were rather uncommon:
Long-tailed Skipper:
This cloud formation resembled a flock of birds (or angels?):
Storm clouds over the ocean drifted along the eastern horizon:
The morning sky cast a peaceful reflection on the still surface of the lake:

ReplyDeleteI just saw a robber fly on my walk. He was on the pavement and when he sensed my presence he whipped around and stared at me. I found him fascinating but a bit scary - they're big and rather ominous looking.
